Well, I am officially a fall 2010 student at Lee University. I had to wait to last minute too! It was quite a day of talking to almost all my professors to get their approval to be added late. I had spoke to Dr. Wilson a few days earlier and she gave me quite a scare saying she a few other professors are not allowing any more additions to their classes because “too much” has been discussed. I have a few things to say about this.
First, if it is a class I need to get into, then I would be getting into those classes. I don’t understand how the “last day to sign up for classes” can be blocked by a professor. Isn’t that a different version of bait and switch?
Second, I guarantee that is not in writing anywhere, so… that would not stand.
Finally, if I am needing to get into a class, I will get in it. We all know how Lee University does not budge unless a parent calls. If you didn’t know… now you do!
What am I taking this semester? Four classes.
- Introduction to Marketing
- Business Finance
- Introduction to Business
- Java Programming
Marketing is with a good friend, Prof. Burns. Had him a few summers ago for Macroeconomics and know he has a pretty relax class. You still have to read and keep up to date, but it should be a good class. Funny story, I went to get his signature, and apparently it was his first day back since having his right knee replaced! We swapped hospital stories (mine from when I almost died last year) and he looks at me and asked, “you are a tech guy, right? Could you setup my student assistant’s work laptop for me?” Haha. Love it. Said sure and I tell you want, he is technology set! The small netbook he had me setup was nice. He then showed his iPad off a bit (I want one!!).
Business Finance is going to be a tough class. Lots of financial statements! I have been to one class already and I need to brush up on my financial statements. I have to make Prof. Hart proud!! And remember, Accounting is Fun!!
Since I spent most of last Fall’s Introduction to Business either in a hospital room or getting checkups or xrays of some kind, I decided to retake the course and get my money’s worth. Let’s hope we do not work with SIFE this semester. I most likely have to create a business as a part of the course. I am not doing web design, as that is too easy! I have a good idea, but that will have to wait!
Java Programming will be interesting. I have looked at the book some and it looks like CSS and PHP do share some similarities on how they are written. If the first class is any indication. I may need to eat energy bars or something to stay awake. Yawn.
Time to hit the bed. I am exhausted!!
